Have you noticed lately - The Church, the bride of Christ is batter bruised, anemic?  Division in the church! Inflated egos rule from pew and pulpit! People leaving feeling frustrated without lasting answers. However, at one time the church used live as a way of life to the words of this old hymn.

 

Have thine own way, Lord!

 

Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way! 
Thou art the potter, I am the clay. 
Mold me and make me after thy will, 
while I am waiting, yielded and still. 

 

Today the church has changed the lyrics and sings

 

Have My own way, Lord! Have MY own way! 
I am the potter; You lord are the clay. 
I Mold you and make you after my will, 
By declaring my wants, unyielded, all in thy name 

 

The results:  Suicides rates increase, despair infects our children. People confused, feel lost, no hope. No vision, hopelessly adrift.  That you?

 

We watch how people backstab each and out for blood in the news. We see the real affects of alcohol, drugs, and addictions has on those around us. Sexual deviance and immorality reigns but the psychological toll this has on one soul is ignored.

 

Society Markets band aids, self-help books rule… Power, control. Craziness increases, and this is passed it on to next generation. The church says WE want to reach youth … millennials!

 

Yet many are killing themselves, others lost in a sea of ungratefulness. So many of our kids don’t know how to relate to other human beings unless by texting, Face Book, social media where they can paint themselves off as super heroes, super cool, have 2000 friends – yet do not really know anyone – and if one defriends them – end of the world…  

 

Others are lost in gangs – craziness of the street – bored – get high – pain again and again. Adults likewise are caught in the same traps.

 

Question: Do people see more of Jesus in us or more of the world? Are you a moral compass for God or a rudderless ship?

 

Or we an island from the storm or do we help keep the storms going?

 

We are losing our youth.  Our communities, Our cities, towns, homes, families, country…

 

While we sing in our pew:

 

Have My own way, Lord! Have My own way! 
Your grace gives me absolute sway.
Fills me with all my desires I see 
World only, always, living unhindered in me! 

 

Folks – let’s be real: The church world is a mess…

 

No wonder people leave the church…

 

No wonder there is such division and strife in the church….

 

Big egos – that is the problem – egos that cry out – how dare you judge me, condemn me, convict me, I am all right…I can do what I please…

 

Big egos that come from broken homes, that lack of feeling loved, where love is confused with control because of the betrayal, neglect, abuse, mocking, scoffing, left forsaken left - all alone - that wounds the soul – now moves egos to seek power, fame, or even self-sabotage! 

 

We have in abundance big egos coming into the church - creating division – strife

 

No longer does the church sing, “Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way! Thou art the potter, I am the clay.  Mold me and make me after thy will, while I am waiting, yielded and still.” 

 

Instead, let’s build the church the worlds way – we can help God out – market church – must be a non-offending church – never reflect the real Jesus but make a Jesus in the image that the world likes… never offending. You know a Jesus Genie from the bible, who never convicts…

 

You know - All revivals in Church history began the same way. God changes not but oh how do we like to change God!

 

“Bend me” was the motto of great Welsh Revival uttered from Evens Roberts and the Spirit of God fell. What were the results: People felt great heaviness, hand of God upon them revealing life is not alright, people drawn into church, saloons shut down, abuse stopped, lives change…

 

An  prayer warrior before the Azusa Street Revival prayed – “let us become small so that You Jesus can become big!”

 

John the Baptist even said… “I must decrease that He Must Increase”

 

We do hear this today - do we? Jesus taught about denying self – and guess what - today he’d be a stranger in most churches with a message like that.

 

Instead, it is all about how wonderful you are…  or If you do this formula or follow this ritual God is obligated by his own spiritual laws to do for you whatever you need because you are so wonderful.

 

Or you hear this line: God operated by laws that the occult stole from so it is okay to use these to get their gets with God. But the bible says what – 2 Co 6:15, “what accord has Christ with Belial? What fellowship has light with darkness?” NKJV answer is: NONE

 

Stop mocking God, tempting him by jumping off into things you shouldn’t do that are forbidden in the bible to do…

 

Let’s be honest folks – many are pining away – many have no hope – no future seen.  We are driven by all the trauma in our lives to escape the pain of betrayal, abuse, being forsaken…

 

This creates a landing place for the devil to have in common with us, so we continually feed fat egos.  Feed what continues to rob, steal, ruin, and life around us. With politics, with racism, with hate, bitterness, unforgiveness, revenge that drives us to escape pain.

 

Let’s be real – how wonderful are we?

 

Even Roberts of the Welsh revival – cried out – “Bend Me – Break me oh Lord!”

 

Others cried out, “Make us small Lord Jesus, so you can become big here….”

 

Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way! 
Search me and try me, Savior today! 
Wash me just now, Lord, wash me just now, 
as in thy presence humbly I bow. 

 

Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way! 
Wounded and weary, help me I pray! 
Power, all power, surely is thine! 
Touch me and heal me, Savior divine! 

 

There is a truth in Mal 4:6-7s: “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD. 6, And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, And the hearts of the children to their fathers, Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.” NKJV

 

Are we in the church under a curse?

 

Pastor from Wellington Colorado told of this true-life event. While He was at work one doing contractor work the lord allowed him to see into the heart of the man who hired him, and asked,  “Is something wrong?”

 

With that the man melted and said, “Today I just struck my son, I swore I would never do that…”

“Did your father hit you?”  

 

“Yes” - the man said.

 

There is a curse upon this earth and in the last days.  It does not matter how old one is. If stuffed happened long ago, it tears you up inside. You carry that burden. The pastor was used by the Lord to help the man, praise God. You see, when the hearts of the children return to the Father, this breaks this curse – do you hear?

 

Folks what would your church – family – wherever you live look like if you modeled Jesus Christ and not the ways of the world that many of our own kids see in us?

 

We do not model Jesus Christ very well in our homes, church, towns, cities, country. Instead we model the morals and ways of the world very-very well.

 

We model big fat egos in the church supremely well – division strife – no unity – no harmony - looks of cat fight nit picking – pointing the finger of condemnation.  Lots’ of slanderous gossip while we lose more to suicide…drugs… booze lust bitterness

 

Break us of Lord! Break us!

 

Who among us models the fruit of Holy Spirit everyday?

 

You know as Galatians 5:22-23 says: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control., righteousness, and truth” NKJV

 

What would your home be like if you did – your church if you… its possible and nothing is impossible that God can’t do…

 

Gal 5:24-26, “…Who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.” NKJC

 

Eph 5:8-11, For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 discovering what is acceptable to the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.” NKJV

 

How do we return – who do we correct our ways?

 

Let me share on this briefly and afterwards let’s pray together about this.

 

We cry out to repent and we take that to mean that we are to just only feel sorry for doing wrong, but nothing changes. True isn’t it?

 

Let me share word picture of what true repentance looks like:

 

Run to our Heavenly Father’s lap, climb on up and tell him every evening: “Lord, I failed to model you today to my wife – husband – kids – friend today.  I struck my friends! I let bitterness rule me…revenge move me!”

 

“Wash me with your blood and cleanse me so I can learn daily to better reflect who you are. Raise me into new life in you. Heal my heart from not being able to reflect you.”

 

Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way! 
Thou art the potter, I am the clay. 
Mold me and make me after thy will, 
while I am waiting, yielded and still. 

 

Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way! 
Search me and try me, Savior today! 
Wash me just now, Lord, wash me just now, 
as in thy presence humbly I bow. 

 

Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way! 
Wounded and weary, help me I pray! 
Power, all power, surely is thine! 
Touch me and heal me, Savior divine! 

 

Have thine own way, Lord! Have thine own way! 
Hold o'er my being absolute sway. 
Fill with thy Spirit till all shall see 
Christ only, always, living in me! 

 

Bible says in 1Jn 1:8-10, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us” NKJV.

 

That’s the cure folks for the division in the church… deflate egos by healing the broken heart that caused them. We decrease – can we pray to deflate our egos – so he can increase in us?

 

Did you not know it says in Rom 8:29 – “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.” NKJV

 

Let’s pray, repeat after me – place hand on heart stomach or raise your hands

 

Dear Heavenly Father, I run to you and climb upon your lap: Hold me…

 

Lord, I failed to model you today to my wife – my husband – my kids – my friends today.  I stuck my family, son, daughter, I failed to provide and spent it all on get highs and gambling and stupid things.

 

I failed to model you today. I live in bitterness and revenge and spread it around more that I show you … It is killing me and stopping me form going further with you.

 

I have a wounded heart, broken and traumatized because I was hit, abused, forsaken, betrayed, neglected, ignored, lied about and this inflated my ego to escape this pain… I drown it in violence, watching terrible movies – porno, I yell scream a lot and end up doing the things I swore I would not do to my family friends’ kids

 

Wash ne with the Blood of Jesus, wash my heart, my eyes, my ears, my mind clean and teach me every day to reflect you better than the day before. I vow to come here every-day before you to be so washed cleansed I choose to forgive those who hurt me…

 

Forgive me Lord…. (Now take a few seconds and really ask to be forgive and to live born again) Count to 100

 

Let’s pray again repeat after me:

 

Now I ask you Lord Jesus by the same spirit that raised you from the dead quicken my mortal body, heart, mind soul fill me with thy Resurrection power to heal my broken heart, so I have nothing in common with the devil, the world, and their ways. Baptized me in the Holy Spirit!

 

Raise me into new life in you and heal my heart from not being able to reflect – model you – so I can do better each and every day…

 

And Lord I by faith raise the Cross of Christ my Lord over my life, heart, mind, I raise it above; my family, church, friends, enemies, and demand by the power of Jesus Name that every devil around these parts look at it.

 

You all have been defeated by the cross of light above this land – so bug off me, my family church friends my people, this area…

 

Bug off you have been made a public spectacle of - by that Cross of Jesus - you will bow your knees to the Lord Jesus Christ who defeated you and who destroyed all your works in Jesus name and get out of my life, my family, friend’s lives … in Jesus name – amen

 

I am his own

 

I will run to My Heavenly Father’s house every day and learn how stop reflecting the flesh the word and the devil to all those around me by running boldly to the throne of God’s Grace and find you help in time of need.
